Make config.php a config_template.php instead, installing the auth server would mean to copy config_templat e.php to config.php and then change the appropriate values. We'd have a version number at the top of config.php and config_template.php, if they don't match spit out a message to say "your config is broken!"

Considering the direction we are heading to with the install file, I'm not sure this is still a 1.0 showstoper. Feel free to readjust priority and milestone if you disagree.

I'm actually quite sure that we won't need that feature in v1.1 the latest, as we're moving all configuration stuff (but the database details) into the database ...

That's definitely a wontfix now, there is very little left in the config file.
